one would assume that when planning to resurrect a multimillion dollar franchise beloved the world over with almost forty years of content Disney would have an overall plan for the main storyline of the new trilogy, but apparently jj abrams and kasdan wrote TFA and then disney handed the reins to rian and uh. he did whatever the hell he wanted. like call me naive but im pretty sure it would have been a good idea to like….have a coherent plot + narrative arc even loosely agreed on before you made a trilogy that was supposed to tell one story over three movies
