That’s not small town America. That’s big city pretending to be a small town America. The suburbs are fucking wild here

It’s so – ugly! City planning I just wanna talk

Yeah, that’s a housing complex, not a town in any way. Basically these are a bunch of houses all made by the same contractor with the same landlord/board and it probably has one building in the center that could have a pool and/or a gym or something (if it’s a really fancy one) and only people living within the complex can use those resources.

Small town America will usually have the center of town where there’s a church, school, grocery store, gas station, and MAYBE a few other stores. Depends on the population size. Then there will be a few houses close to that area that you can walk to from the school and then everywhere else you have to drive to get. Growing up in small town America means none of your friends live within walking distance and teenagers go to drink in the woods (as long as it’s warm enough and not hunting season or else you will DIE).

ughhh it’s just everything about that suburb layout is truly incomprehensible to me. Why are there mini-forests between streets? Hell, can I even call them streets? Because to do that would suggest that there’s more than one road but all we’ve got here is some big fuck-you twilight zone spiral running into the middle.

They’re just bad. I honestly don’t understand the appeal. I have family who grew up in housing developments like that (in California and Arizona so not as green) and sure their houses were big but they couldn’t walk anywhere.
