Further fun related fact, this technique has been used for quite awhile, even in 2D animation. Hanna-Barbara used this a lot to save on animating so they could use separate frames for the heads and rest of the bodies on their characters. Meaning they only had to draw one walk cycle and just do the talking apart from it. This is why Yogi Bear, Huckleberry Hound, and any other Hanna-Barbara character has a necktie or collar of some kind.
