Rivers Solomon is one of the nominees for this year’s Campbell Award for Best New Writer. They live in Cambridge, England, so the cost of coming to the Hugo award ceremony in San Jose is a significant barrier.

The thing about the Campbell Award is that, unlike the Hugo Awards, each writer is only eligible for it twice and at the very beginning of their career. This is a time when they are the most vulnerable as a writer and also when a boost like a nomination can do the most for their career.

It’s such an honor for @cyborgyndroid to have been nominated for a Campbell award, but more importantly, attendance at this sort of this is hugely important for writers at the beginning of their careers. For us that means it’s hugely important for establishing a financial future.

Our family is poor, disabled, black, jewish, trans and gay. Neither of us are able to work the few traditional jobs available to us and Rivers’s writing is our largest source of income.

Please share this widely, and if you can afford to then please do donate.

If you haven’t read An Unkindness of Ghosts, 1. you totally should and 2. it’s more than deserving of this award – imo it should get the Hugo too, but maybe I’m biased. Please help Rivers get the recognition she deserves!
