my favorite Millennial Thing™ is when a group of us are standing around and talking and someone asks a question that no one knows the answer to and suddenly it’s a race to get out your phone and google it and be the first to know, and then someone starts reading the Wikipedia article about the thing aloud to everyone else, and what started as a casual conversation is now A Learning Opportunity and we all walk away a little more knowledgeable about a random topic

Like, Boomers hate when we do that, but I think it’s one of the best things about us.

So long as we have internet or a cell signal, all of the world’s collective knowledge is at our fingertips, and damned if we aren’t going to use it.

Boomers don’t hate this, ime they all treat me like I’m The Keeper Of The Facts.

If I’m out with my dad and his friends and someone doesn’t know something, they all look at me or mime having a phone and pressing buttons. They love it.

Yeah, thank GOD I now know which of the Harry Potter movies made the most money, or which dude was in that thing (and also every other movie he’s ever been in).

I am truly learned this day. I have become an angelic being of wikipedia, while disgusting old people (who do not even know how to use a phone and do not know one single fact because of it) stare on with jealous rage.

I honestly love the idea that people here think baby boomers, which includes people born in the early 60s, literally don’t know how to look stuff up on their phones

Tbh I think this is a reference to that one (1) comic where a bunch of friends in a restaurant are trying to remember how old Barbra Streisand is, and then the “after cellphones” one is just a bunch of people on their phones, and then in the notes people (rightly, imo) pointed out that the friends would be using their phones to find out how old Barbra Streisand is.

At least, that’s what came to my mind immediately, because I couldn’t think of any other example that could be construed as “baby boomers” hating “millennials” for looking things up on their phones in conversation.

I’ve dealt with Boomers IRL being uncomfortable with it. I think they view it as being impolite kind of like not taking off your coat or hat can be. I just don’t do it when I’m with them as a result.
