Sad news for Peter Capaldi as the art school he attended has been hit by another massive file – the same part of the school that was seriously damaged in a fire in 2014. (Edit: apparently this happened a day go but I’m just seeing the news now; I found out by way of an Instragram story posted by actress Katy Townsend of Mass Effect: Andromeda fame.)
Peter was in the midst of filming Series 8 when news of the 2014 fire hit, and he posted this video online to give words of encouragement to the students there. He and Brad Pitt were also among those who also helped raise funds for the restoration. I’m sure Peter’s words from early 2014 still stand four years later:
The fire started around 11:15 p.m. (3:15 p.m. our time) on Friday the 15th. It was about 5 p.m. when I read the breaking news on BBC on Twitter. The most I feel for are the students and all of their beautiful work, also feel for Peter and those who studied there years ago. I came across a link to donate restoration funds. The thing is, the fire did so much more damage this second time, officials are fearing they may not be able to save the structure. 😢 We can always hope for the best. 🤞
