I though there was something off about Charlotte Hale back when she
interrogated Bernard. The way she talked and sat with him was very
Dolores like. But I didn’t think much about it then. We knew to little
about the woman Hale was to know she was replaced. I also did think replacing Hale would be a good move for hosts since she’s in charge of Delos they could take over this way. I just didn’t think Tessa Thompson had the time to do it. I’m glad she does.It was sad to watch all the sacrifices that led to nothing and all the deaths that ended in a disaster but. I’m especially sad about the few humans I actually cared about – Elsie, Lee, Emily. The hosts we care about got to afterlife or can be resurrected. Humans seem forever lost. All their deaths were pretty senseless (charging machine guns with his bad prose, letting ruthless CEO know you will tell on her illegal project, letting your crazy, evil dad get hold of a weapon). At least Lee did buy Maeve a little time to get her daughter to the VR paradise. All Elsie did was betray Bernard and die in front of him. Everyone he cares about dies.
I loved that only the hosts could see the door. This was connection through their network and so invisible to humans. The forge AI must’ve contacted them before to let them know it would open it for them. To bad humans managed to turn most of them against each other and stop them from leaving. This explains 1/3 hosts with completely erased cores (like knew) as those are the ones who got in and the others who just died but should be retrievable. Only a few got to heaven and everyone else is still stuck in purgatory.
I’m glad
Dolores changed her mind about the virtual world and uploaded it into the
cloud so at least those hosts could be happy. And it seems if they remembered someone system recreated them. If it could do Logan from imperfect James Delos memories it could do Kohana from perfect Akecheta memories. And it looks like Teddy got to be one too and he stayed in The Forge – waiting for Dolores maybe?I like that even though Bernard and Dolores are
on two completely different ends of what to do about humans question
they still resurrect each other. They understand they need each other to help hosts survive even if they disagree how that survival should be like.I
think Dolores might’ve made multiple copies of herself in different bodies so
she can do different things. Or she maybe she put another of her faithful in Hale but those cores are all getting used. After all she has plans to take over the real world and she needs bodies to do it. Bernard would
rather coexist. No matter how simple humans are he still thinks they
have the right to live. He would like to share the world.Maeve is the one who found a way to do it.
Her band included both hosts and humans and she and other hosts in her posse can survive
because of that. Even Lee, the selfish asshole, died for her in the end. That’s real loyalty – not what
Dolores made Teddy into. Felix and Sylvester no longer are forced to help her but they would do it of their own accord because they are friends now. And all other humans who know what she can do are dead so she can work in shadows again. The post-credit ending seems to be happening pretty far off in the future.
However, I wonder if the “Emily” there is a real one is resurrected (original was coming to
the park since she was a little kid so she could be the easiest to
resurrect – if her data still exists), a host made to look like her for
the fidelity test or a real Emily. I know she died but maybe Billy was
right and it was a trick – we never really learn what Ford’s quest for
him was about.Or maybe her death was staged. After all she told Akecheta she had plans for her dad that were much worse than anything Akecheta could do to him and this end seemed like his personal hell. He is respun over and over again at his worst – wounded and defeated – to talk to a daughter he killed. Exactly what he tried to avoid. And she could arrange that – if she is alive she is the only heir to Delos.
But that would probably mean Stubs took him to her right after he found William in that tent. Or maybe he gets to live and fight with Dolores/Hale for the control of the firm and Parks and host technology. Until she defeats him again because she already has his personality profile pretty well figured out (see the bullets) and sticks him in his own hell (see above).
I’m also
pretty sure Stubbs indicated he is a host too – made by Ford for a every
specific purpose – and that he knows Charlotte Hale is no longer
herself. But his scope are only hosts inside the Park. The ones outside – not his problem.
