My favorite thing to do is to get people whose companies I wanna work for to follow me back on Twitter. We laugh, kiki, then a month or two later, someone will go “hey! Come to my office to meet IRL!” and *Hacker voice* I’m in.

Speaking very frankly, work in your chosen field is all about who you know and the RIGHT people knowing your talents and potential. Get out to those industry specific events, enter and actively participate in industry spaces online if you can’t do it IRL. Be very selective but curate a hefty list of contacts. Prioritize well, and make a shortlist. Build relationships based on that short list. Your goal is to have people go “Oh! I know someone who would be PERFECT for XYZ” to the people they encounter. You want to build a list of advocates.

Be patient, be lowkey.
