Why tf would a Prince from a hidden African nation speak in an American/British accent?

They were unsure is audiences would sit through anything other than a British or American accent. An African inspired accent would be asking too much for people to sit through. Damn. Fictional African countries have to be normed on whiteness.
You really can tell when people don’t know their target audience well or even care to conduct simple researches
Even though this is a small example but tons of people on here have confessed that they definitely would want to see more than English/American accents in the media.
I mean even after BP was released, nobody has had an issue with any of the characters having African accents. Like 🙄
a prime example of why representation matters not just in FRONT of the camera but also BEHIND – bc most of these studio execs are white we almost got stuck with an entire movie of Wakandans speaking with British accents. if Boseman hadnt put his foot down/insisted, Black Panther wouldve been dead in the water before filming for it was even started (no, i dont think a movie set in a British-accented Wakanda would have been even half as successful as it ended up being, for damn good reason). more Black talent behind the scenes would have prevented this from even being a conversation and its REALLY embarrassing for Marvel how much of Black Panther’s success is turning out to have been IN SPITE of their white-dominated studio execs’ decisions
