On a serious note, the IPV/abuse rates that bisexual women face are absolutely not restricted to “anglo-saxons”. Bisexual women of color are even more at risk of facing domestic violence and intimate partner violence, because homophobia and misogyny are racialized when enacted against people of color, especially women of color. There are more bisexual people of color than white bisexual people in the global bisexual community, which obviously means that proportionally, more bisexual victims of abuse/IPV are nonwhite than white. This goes for sexual harassment, stalking, and sexual violence as well. For example, the first bisexual person to ever successfully petition for asylum on the basis of escaping homophobia was Apphia Kumar, a bisexual woman from India. Not only is she a woman of color, but she is literally a nonwestern woman. 

It’s very much an issue that bi people of color and bi women of color especially have to deal with, and it’s disgusting that our struggles with violence aren’t recognized by anyone, even by white bisexuals.

In another example of the extraordinary lengths Canadian immigration officials go to deport failed refugee claimants, the Canada Border Services Agency has been collecting DNA from migrants and using ancestry websites to find and contact their distant relatives and establish their nationality.

“I think it is a matter of public interest that border service agencies like the CBSA are able to obtain access to DNA results from sites like Familytreedna.com and Ancestry.com,” said Subodh Bharati, a lawyer who is representing a man who says he’s Liberian, but who the government is now trying to prove is actually Nigerian. “There are clear privacy concerns. How is the CBSA able to access this information and what measures are being put in place to ensure this information remains confidential?”

Bharati, who is representing his client through CLASP, the legal aid clinic at Osgoode Hall Law School, said he is aware of at least two individuals who used Familytreedna.com, one in the UK, who have been contacted by the CBSA seeking to deport someone from Canada.

“Individuals using these sites to look at their family tree should be aware that their confidential information is being made available to the government and that border agents may contact them to help facilitate the deportation of migrants,” he said.

holy shit, but also … the science on this is nowhere near good enough to support this use, even if it wasn’t horrible. 

I’ve been saying not to use these sites for the longest. The science is still new and the professional ethics are non-existent.

Ancestry.com and FamilySearch.org is Mormon owned and no offense to the cult I grew up in (actually, offense is meant) they are a bigoted bunch of cultists who already got involved with politics enough to be threatened with removal of tax exempt status for their fight against equality so I can see them being 100% friendly with the gestapo arms of the governments if they’re told it will remove black and brown people from their communities. Why people trusted their DNA and gross amounts of information about themselves and every member of their families to these cults is beyond me.

This explains a lot. I would not give that lot my information. These are the people who thought black people were cursed until the 70s. Don’t give these guys your information guys.

They also have continues their evangelical crusade to colonize the “savages” here and abroad. Trusting these people with your info is like handing over all your secrets and your family’s secrets to the devil.

So to me anything that is funny on the internet is, and always will be, cutting-edge and hilarious.  If it’s funny the first time, it’s funny the eleven thousandth time.  No exceptions.

I have absolutely no problem with the character or any movie that does not exist for me, but I have always been confused by how attractive other people find Thor.

Going back to one of your earlier posts about villains and music. It’s not just that the villains are music fans, they also support up and coming artists.

Speaking of the club and music, there was a quote by the director that basically says whoever is at the helm of the club controls the music. We saw it with Cornell, Mariah, and Bushmaster. What would the club have been playing if Mariah did sell it to Shades? Or even if Mariah didn’t sell, but ended up in jail without turning it over to Luke and just ran the club through Shades. Would he defer to her music taste or interject his own style?

I looked at Theo Rossi’s Spotify playlist for Shades and it’s a lot of rap. Namely east coast. I think he’d go with Immortal Technique, Cam’ron, Joey Badass, Jean Grae, etc.

One thing I’ve noticed rewatching S1…

Shades seems less mature than he does in Season 2. It’s not just that he
doesn’t dress as nice. He also seems to treat life as one big joke,
even giggling at odd times during serious situations. But the
times that he acts the most serious in Season 1 are when he’s with
Mariah and I think that’s rather noticeable. Makes me wonder if a lot of
his changed behavior in the second season was to try to impress her.
