Last thing before I get off Tumblr for a while… I encourage everyone in the US to read critically more about Eastern European politics and European politics in general. I think here in the US we tend to be paradoxically too Eurocentric/Anglocentric culturally and too little understanding of Europe politically. The average USian on here might be able to recite tons of trivia about upperclass English boarding schools and the fucking queen but doesn’t know where Ukraine is. It’s just the way we were raised.

And if you’re a person of color with few links to Europe, reading critically about Europe has the added benefit of giving you ammunition to counter the ridiculous white Europeans who pretend “race doesn’t matter in Europe, it’s all your problem in the US”.
