For the Remembering Baelfire event, from Rumple’s point of view. Because nothing is forgotten.
I loved you before I knew you Did what I had to To be there for your growing up. To hold you, to love you, to rock you through the night. I regretted only that I couldn’t give you piggyback rides Or kick a ball around with you But I could tell you stories, And sing you songs. I could give you hugs, and kiss Each bump and bruise better; I could wipe your tears away And tell you it was okay to cry When you were hurt, or scared,or sad. I tried to shield you from your mother’s slights From her indifference, And if I could not wholly succeed (You were always a smart boy – My sweet, brave, beautiful boy) Then I could make sure that you went to bed every night Knowing that your papa loved you More than anything in the world. And I could be there for your triumphs, First steps and first words and Each new mark that I carved upon my staff To mark your growing, into a boy That any man would be proud to call son. I would have died for you – Instead I had to kill.
I want to draw this for a while, and yesterday I saw the post that today(10th May) is Remembering Baelfire
day.
I spend my 4 hours free time draw this. (three hours crying and one to actually draw it.)
I love papafire, it’s my fav relationship on the show and I still hope they give me a surprise scene when Rumple get to reunite with his son in the final.
Pairings / Characters: Neal/Emma, Snow/Charming, Henry/Ella, Regina/Robin plus a few other familiar names.
Summary: A canon-divergence after mid-season 3. Neal discovers what home really means.
Notes:
This is a mostly a
complete overhaul of everything that happened in the show since they decided to
kill Neal off….starting with keeping him alive. There will be certain elements
of canon that will remain, including some events and characters from later
seasons.
Neal turned the small bean over and over again
in his right palm.
He knew it was only a matter of time that his
world would have to change again. That was just the way his life worked –
constantly moving from one place to another just as he thought he found a home.
The
years seemed to go by like seconds. When one has lived for hundreds of years
time tends to do that. Still, he thought he might have finally, at long last,
found some normalcy and permanence.
The last place he expected it to be was the
magical, previously cursed town where his father lived.
-Without Baelfire, there would be no show because Rumple took on the Dark One curse to save him from the Ogre War and he got Regina to create Storybrooke in the first place so that he could find Baelfire again. Regardless of the later inconsistencies regarding the difficulties of portal jumping, this is still an important plot point for the first three seasons of the show
-Baelfire had established relationships with much of the main cast including Emma, Killian, Belle, and Henry. There was also potential for him and Regina to have one as well since they were coparents. Unfortunately, the development of many of those relationships is in some very good fic due to the character’s untimely death.
-The character clearly meant a lot to both Michael Raymond James and Robert Carlyle
-Baelfire’s fandom has seen some shit to put it mildly but there’s some cool folks in that fandom who have managed to keep writing fic and rolled with the punches as best they can
Fics I’ve written with Baelfire as an important character:
It is highly unlikely that Baelfire will be seen in the finale of OUAT. It’s possible but not extremely likely that he will even be mentioned.
Baelfire is Rumple’s son. Baelfire is Henry’s FATHER. Baelfire was important to OUAT and he shouldn’t be erased from the narrative. So let’s honor this character.
Those of you who are so inclined, please consider writing a fic or making a fanvid or drawing fan art to remember and honor the character of Baelfire/Neal Cassidy.
This can be anything – it can be Papafire, Swanfire, SwanFireQueen, Henry and his dad, Gideon and his brother, Baelfire and his granddaughter Lucy, Rumbelle and Baelfire, adult Bae/Neal or kid Baelfire – so many relationships that were never explored because this wonderful character was written off the show for no good reason.
Due date for all contributions to this even will be Thursday, May 10 – the day before the penultimate episode of Once Upon a Time.
When posting your fan contribution, please tag it #remembering baelfire FIRST, followed by any other tags that are appropriate.
I hope many will consider participating. Baelfire was important and he deserves to be remembered. Please share and spread the word!
