I’m curious how Black Lightning will handle the passage of time.

Like suppose its season 4 or so and Jennifer is 18. Will they do a plot about her going to college? Will she pick a school away from home and have to hide her powers while she’s there?

As long as I’m on the topic of Black Lightning…

I think Gambi’s a good example of how to write a redeemed villain/anti-hero. There’s both evidence in the plot that he’s working toward his redemption and Jefferson isn’t written as falling over backward to forgive him. It’s clear that his good deeds aren’t enough to make Jefferson want to forget what happened and have the same relationship with him and yet Gambi doesn’t hold that over his head and still is a good ally to the Pierce family regardless. I honestly didn’t think Gambi would make it out of the season alive so I’m curious as to what they do in S2 with his relationship with the Pierce family, Jefferson and Anissa in particular.

Can you believe Black Lightning got to have a season finale where none of the faves had to die?

Lynn? Waiting for her superfam to come home from a run, thinking about how she can have a whole family again.

Jefferson? Happy Papa Bear with his two daughters, going to work the next day to inspire his students.

Anissa? Bulletproof lesbian ready to protect Freeland with everything she’s got, might stop by the bar to talk to Grace.

Jennifer? Won’t have to worry about pulling a Rogue the next time she kisses a boy, shocking people is pretty cool too.

Uncle Gambi? Probably tailoring a suit for Jennifer just in case out of the measurements he has on hand from altering clothes for her.

One thing that really stands out to me about Black Lightning is that the writers made it a point to demonstrate how Black superheroes would be treated very differently in our society than White superheroes and they made that double standard a major component of the overall season arc.

I’m sad it seems Grace doesn’t have powers, but I figured BL wouldn’t be able to get the rights to DC’s Amazon Mythos. They tend to be pretty tight with stuff like that.

@etherealnoir I’m wondering if they’ll develop her powers in a different way.

I wouldn’t be surprised.

I think the conversation her and Anissa had in the bar was meant to be foreshadowing for her getting powers as well
