Let’s make up a fandom name for Nafessa Williams as Thunder/Anissa Pierce. What should it be?
Lana Parrilla (The Evil Queen) from Once Upon A Time has Evil Regals. Rebecca Mader, the Wicked Witch in Once Upon A Times, calls her My Pretties. Gillian Anderson had something back in her x files days. There are other examples but I’m blanking right now.
We can come up with a few options and ask her what she thinks on Twitter. After Clexacon, I think showing her that there is a fandom would be a sweet gesture.
Anissa is such a good superhero because she became a superhero because she wanted to help people. She didn’t have some turning point or some tragedy happen to make her a superhero. Shes just always been an activist for helping people and once she got her superpowers, boom, she knew she wanted to use it to help others. Shes a minority character (black and lesbian) trying to make the world a better place and that makes her one of the most realistic superheroes I’ve ever seen. Even before becoming a superhero she was a strong activist which makes her becoming a superhero so realistic and in character. Ok thats all i love her thank you and good night.
So surprise surprise the black lightning panel wasn’t full but nafessa williams is awesome and she is a gift and kept saying “black lesbian” and was super proud of that. So you all better watch the BL panel when they put it up on youtube.
Anyway her autograph line is deserted that i went back 3 times easily while everyone else had lines up the wazoo (you know why). But sucks for everyone else. Their loss, my gain. i got her to sign my fan art of her and she asked for a copy of it so i gave her one too and she said it was dope and we had this entire conversation about it and how inspiring she is and i got a hug from her and a selfie and i was not completely socially awkward for once and didn’t die so that was great.
God this makes my heart hurt. Why couldn’t we show ourselves to be decent human beings as a group for once?
She is just as invested as Chyler is, so what’s the difference?! What could possibly be?! Hmmm
