Tumblr account terminated

So this happened to me a few days ago, and I thought maybe sharing my experience could help someone if this happens to them in the future.

I was checking my Tumblr when suddenly I was logged out from it and given the usual Log In page. When I entered the details to access my blog, this appeared:

My heart skipped a bit. I tried to re-enter the details (maybe I got them wrong the first time), but no, the same message about Termination was shown. I typed my blog URL and got the

ominous

:

Same thing with my sideblogs.

So obviously I was very worried. I contacted the Tumblr support but didn’t get an answer for 48 hours, only an automated reply. I already started mentally saying goodbye to my blogs, my posts and all my followers, when finally I recieved their answer:

(In case you can’t see the picture, it says:

Hello,
We’ve restored your account.
Thank you for bringing this problem to our attention. We’re sorry that it occurred, and we’ll do our best to make sure that it doesn’t happen again.
You should now be able to log in just fine with your email address and password.
Please let me know if there’s anything else I can help you with.

My blog was restored and working normally. All my sideblogs were intact , and so were my posts and my followers. The only thing that was lost, is all the conversations by Messages. The people with whom you talked are still there, but all the history of the conversation is gone.

Alright so here is what you should do if this happens to you. Don’t panick like I did Click on the “contact support” link provided in the terminated window. Alternatively, go on Tumblr.com/support

Politely explain your situation – give your blog URL, your mail, tell what happened exactly. I understand that the situation can be upsetting, but the person who will read the message and try to help you isn’t directly responsible for the termination of your blog. And sending an angry message with insults isn’t the best way to get your blog back either.

Wait for the reply of the team. If you feel like it takes too much time (more than few days for example), try to fill the Help/Support form again.

Once the team is in contact with you, keep the polite tone. Normally if your blog didn’t go againt the Tumblr rules and policies, you should getit back like I did.

Voila 🙂

Guys this is important. 2 of my followers and rp partners got their accounts terminated today so be careful

Article 13 got approved and that means the internet will be censored for all countries under the EU. If that happens, it’s likely bloggers from affected countries cannot post content anymore. I wouldn’t be able to post gifs, edits, icons, anything anymore. Even adding links to posts could cost money. You can get more information here and here or simply using google to find information from a source you trust. Please sign the petition here and here (everyone can sign this one apparently) to prevent this from happening. I don’t want to lose my blog.

Article 13 didn’t get approved yet. It’s voted on tomorrow, July 5. Signing a change.org petition won’t do much. What you have to do is go to saveyourinternet.eu, and from there e-mail/phone/tweet your country’s representatives in the European Parliament and ask them to vote against it tomorrow.

Sign the fucking petition

I don’t care if it isn’t something you usually do, or doesn’t fit your blog theme, or you don’t want emails after (that you can literally turn off), or you “don’t do politics”

Sign this fucking petition about the eu copyright laws (we literally have one day left)

If you’re actually a decent human being, sign the fucking petition

hi! I’m samir and I identify as hijra (an east indian/south asian trans/nonbinary identity) and to my knowledge there is no existing flag so I have made one.

pink and blue are for those of us who identify with binary genders as trans people, while the white is for those of us who are nonbinary

the red represents the divinity we were blessed with by Rama

non-hijra please share!!

https://gizmodo.com/a-bug-in-samsungs-default-texting-app-is-sending-random-1827291759

if you have a samsung galaxy/note phone (and potentially other samsungs) disable storage permissions for stock messenger, long story short apparently some people’s entire galleries are being texted to random recipients after a recent update. so uh. your whole gallery can be texted to a random contact without your knowledge. evidence of the photos being sent only show up to the recipient. so unless they tell you, someone could have all of your pictures without your knowledge. this is a truly dangerous bug and more people are realizing they are affected by the hour. nobody knows what causes it or how to stop it for sure

just want to emphasize that this is happening and is horrible and potentially life changing. a few people are reporting their entire gallery being texted to a random contact. every photo. aside from the obvious danger of accidentally sending inappropriate pictures to co-workers or something, this could out a lot of people to abusive family or put folks in danger or someone even mentioned having inappropriate pictures accidentally sent to a child. the biggest workarounds right now are switching from the stock messenger app on samsung devices and disabling storage permissions and connectivity between gallery and SMS and just as many permissions as possible until anyone figures out why this is happening. this bug potentially affects anyone using the stock samsung text/messenger/SMS app.

I’m super broke right now, like probably gonna overdraft after paying bills and foolishly thinking I could grab something to eat, so if you could send like a few bucks my way I’d appreciate it.

If you can’t don’t worry, I feel you, I’m right there with you.

GrayKey iPhone unlocker poses serious security concerns

apparently there’s an exploit in iOS that can bypass the limit on the number of times a passcode can be entered so this device just inputs every possible passcode until it finds the right one. hopefully Apple is working on a patch I’d love it if these police departments spend $15,000 on one of these and then the exploit is patched and the device is useless.

Hey here’s how to protect yourself against this

Go into your settings and find Touch ID & Passcode (Face ID & Passcode if you have an iPhone X)

It’ll ask you to enter your current passcode so do that and then hit change passcode

You’ll have to enter your current passcode again. Then instead of entering a new 4 or 6 digit passcode hit this little Passcode Options button

Then hit Custom alphanumeric code

And set yourself a 10 digit password with letters and numbers.

Graykey can crack a 4 digit code in 13 minutes, or a 6 digit code in about 22 hours. A 10 digit alphanumeric code will take it about 12 years on average.
