listen i think lionel and wesley are gonna be fine. yeah, they’ve gotta have an exclusivity talk, but i think one way or another (either lionel discovers he likes being open, or wesley learns he enjoys being exclusive) they’ll come to an understanding that works and be stronger as a couple for it.
Yeah same here. It’s something that me and nearly everyone I know has experienced but it’s just not discussed in an objective fashion on TV. I think this show could do that.
the dear white people creators definitely listened to criticism of the first season, which I really appreciate.
– Joelle gets her own POV episode and is no longer sidelined
– we don’t see the same old tired African stereotypes with Rashid
– Reggie’s PTSD is explored more
– Black female friendship is expounded upon between Sam, Joelle, Coco, and Kelsey
– Lionel’s sexuality is growing and developing
#its true and im so happy he said it
Sam said something deeply personal and painful about epigenetics and how the trauma from slavery is literally in her blood and Gabe laughs to himself, begins talking about himself (”what am I doing? I’m gonna go. I get it, I got really caught up and it was embarassing” is what he says) and then leaves shortly after instead of supporting her. It’s no wonder Sam followed him out the door. She probably needed him to acknowledge her in that moment instead of making it about himself and he didn’t do it so she had to chase after him. That’s…messed up. I really feel for Sam and resent Gabe for not being there for her.
