There needs to be more recognition of intergenerational/cultural trauma in addition to trauma that individuals experience. This isnt even an internet only phenomenon. Ive had white gentile therapists not understand it.

I’m very serious about tagging posts about traumatic events that happen in other cultures like slavery, the KKK, the Highland Clearances, boarding schools etc. because I know I have followers who are from cultures that experienced that and, since I dont know their own history with it, I can’t make assumptions that it doesnt affect them mentally. It’s really not that hard to tag. We all tag nonsense ship names that our phones cant recognize day in and day out after all.

Do people not realize how pointless watching these two and other people like them is?

They are well-paid mouthpieces for the political factions in this country. They’re not paid to be statesmen or erudite. They’re paid to confirm and buttress the biases of their parties.

They are the most worthless elites in the political class and the two you should pay the least attention to.

That was a very clear demoralization tactic, one which right wingers tend to get a lot of mileage out of. Always be wary of people who offer no suggestions, just pessimistic defeatism. The idea is to grind down the enthusiasm of your opponent until they’re comfortable with the notion that there’s no point in trying to change anything.

South Park does a sort of “show, don’t tell” version of this by portraying allsides of important issues as overblown and ultimately futile. The method here is different but the intention is the same.
