Meet Jane… as in Jane Doe, as in what the heck? This cute little critter barely made it into our backyard before collapsing from exhaustion. Presumably an orphaned opossum, no food, no water and no shelter.
.
I know what you’re thinking, “Joe… seriously, it’s a freakin’ opossum, just let it go and let nature take its course.” But… if you know me long enough, you already know my heart for critters is a big one. I can’t stand to see any of God’s creation suffer, not when I can at least try.
.
Jane is resting comfortably in our dog cage in our lanai, and Animal Wildlife Rescue out of Sanford was called, in hopes of getting a phone call Monday morning for pick up. If you have any suggestions on who to call, I would love to see this little thing handed off to good hands and not ones to exterminate. It walked in my yard, barely clinging to life, no mother to feed her, killed no doubt, and I either do nothing feeling guilt and shame or at least try.
