Starfire’s wig is not bad and if you say it is you’re anti-black

So this is the most circulated pic of Anna Diop as Star from the set of titans and I’ll agree this angle is terrible but from different angles it look good:

Also the wig probably looks better in motion and it will probably be touched up because look at the this edit someone made: https://twitter.com/titansmutant/status/984139800168095744

(Ps ppl saying she looks like a stripper, hooker, lady of the night etc y’all are just sexualizing the body of a dark skinned black woman and being anti-sex worker)

Dear young black kids

Don’t let your white friends get you in trouble.

You better say that.

i want to elaborate on this.

don’t buy from white dealers and don’t sell to white people.

don’t underage drink with white people.

don’t do anything that could be viewed as illegal by cops with white people and this isn’t me trying to be anti-white this is me telling you to protect yourself from anti-black cops. they won’t hesitate to pin the entire crime on you even if your white friend did 90% of the crime.

most (if not all) white people don’t understand the same crimes they commit (getting into a bar with a fake ID, stealing cigars, playing with toy guns in walmart) we are given a lengthy imprisonment or executed on the spot for.

so don’t put yourself in a situation that could get you killed and a white person a slap on the wrist.

And no one notices the casual racism in this “enlightened” post.  “

and don’t sell to white people.

“ inferring that black kids definitely are going to deal drugs.   (Slow clap).  That’s brilliant, Tumblr.  Way to perpetuate negative stereotypes as a normal and casual part of black childhood, while warning them of the evil of white people.  In the process of trying to act enlightened and pro-black you perpetuated an antiquated negative stereotype as normal and even expected of black childhood and look how many people shared this garbage.

@thenightling

the post is
talking about teenagers, not kids (kids aren’t going to be underage
drinking either) and some teenagers deal drugs. Some teenagers drink.
Some teenagers do dumb shit. Kids deserve not to die or be seriously hurt for doing dumb shit.

The people above you aren’t “trying to act enlightened and pro-black.” They were having an intracommunity conversation about how police will use violent force on Black teenagers (as has been demonstrated again and again and again) and are trying to help young kids not die. They’re not qualifying their statements to your liking because you are not their intended audience.

yooo let’s do this

Give 👏 Disney™ 👏 more 👏 money 👏

Man almost like nearly the entire entertainment industry is owned by 4 corporations and regardless of any movie we see we give them money, this has absolutely nothing to do with a Black led movie with a majority black cast and an acclaimed black director passing by one of the biggest films of all time to try to break the decaded old Hollywood falsehood that black (or even non-white) creators and movies can’t make quality products people want to see.

Like, I get your point, but let’s be real here.

So surprise surprise the black lightning panel wasn’t full but nafessa williams is awesome and she is a gift and kept saying “black lesbian” and was super proud of that. So you all better watch the BL panel when they put it up on youtube.

Anyway her autograph line is deserted that i went back 3 times easily while everyone else had lines up the wazoo (you know why). But sucks for everyone else. Their loss, my gain. i got her to sign my fan art of her and she asked for a copy of it so i gave her one too and she said it was dope and we had this entire conversation about it and how inspiring she is and i got a hug from her and a selfie and i was not completely socially awkward for once and didn’t die so that was great.

God this makes my heart hurt. Why couldn’t we show ourselves to be decent human beings as a group for once?

She is just as invested as Chyler is, so what’s the difference?! What could possibly be?! Hmmm

Remember when people were extremely seriously touting Bioshock Infinite as the definitive example of video games being art?

Remember when the game came out and people stopped doing that?

there’s a couple of people in the comments vehemently defending bioshock infinite and that’s… wild. to me.

bioshock infinite isn’t even the best game with bioshock in the name. bioshock infinite is a mess full of half-assed storytelling, conflicting morals, and a gameplay system that takes survival horror mechanics and tries to slap them in an action setting

and, also, despite the action-oriented focus, they reduced the weapon count from like ten to a halo-style two weapon system

bioshock infinite couldn’t even commit to its own theme of exploring american colonialism and racism because it was too afraid of upsetting people. it reduces the history of american racism to “will you throw a softball at this interracial couple? that’s what racism is! schoolyard bullying!”

like, for fucks sake, bioshock infinite depicted the story’s black revolutionaries as being more violent than the racist white ruling class. theres a moment in the game where you go to another universe where the black revolutionaries successfully start a revolution and you see them executing white people in the streets and the game says “hmm, looks like…. BOTH sides can be bad… if u fight racism… you’re WORSE than the racists… makes u think huh”

how can anybody defend this clumsy, half-assed failure of a game? the critical acclaim the game received was partially bought by the publisher and partially supplied by game journalists in the early days of the medium desperately trying to legitimize the field they worked in.

they chose Bioshock Infinite as their game to elevate to prove that games are Legitimate Art With A Message and all they did was demonstrate that they were a bunch of socially unaware idiots with no grasp on how institutionalized racism affects people.

Bioshock Infinite is like the ultimate ineffectual centrist game designed to not make white players uncomfortable. It shows a dulled schoolyard version of racism to make white people feel “not so bad” about “that stuff that happened in the past,” it makes a point to say “by the way, Irish people got treated bad too. you know, the heritage that like 99% of white Americans claim to have? so if you’re part irish, you’re officially exempt from feeling bad about historical racism” and then finally says “but hey, if these black people had their way, they’d kill white people in the streets. makes u think huh”

and the games media gave this game nigh-universal acclaim and touted it as proof that games were a legitimate medium for serious storytelling

and people still defend it

it’s insane
