The absolute fucking WORST trend Americans had latched onto in the past few decades is a supposed “return to nature” movement that is literally anti-science and anti-medicine, and extremely dangerous for individuals and the general population at large. I’m not saying modern life doesn’t have its share of problems, but please, if you want to partake in some sort of “back to nature” ideal, go camping or something, don’t skip on fucking vaccinating your kids. I was born in a country that had a lot of rural areas where people didn’t have the means or resources to keep up with important medical necessities like vaccinations, and you know what usually happened? Polio. Polio happened. You know what happens to people who drink “raw water?” Cholera. Average Americans are extremely sheltered and are very, very lucky that shit like herd immunity is a thing so that their kids aren’t getting fucking smallpox in 2018 or some shit.

Saw a really pretty scientist lady in a full field work outfit (complete with a fedora that made her look like a fem!Indiana Jones) today at work. Stammered out a “hi” before I realized that she didn’t know who I was and was probably weirded out.

I saw a post by someone who grew up with the metric system but has problems using units that aren’t used much outside of science classes (like Kelvin and m/s). This made me realize that my own skillset with metric is probably so science-focused that its probably not that similar to that of a normal person who grew up with it. I can picture a m/s (or even a m^2/s) just fine in my head but I cant do that with km/hr because I don’t use metric for driving unless I’m in Canada.

I think the first thing I’d wish from a genie is the power to erase entire articles from the entire internet along with all memory they ever existed and also whoever wrote them turns into a tree.

I mean…it seems rather silly to reject a response because it was submitted on the right day but not at 12AM doesnt it? Especially when that specific time wasn’t mentioned in the email regarding the deadline and we actually submitted a day early relative to our own time zone, which is 9 hours behind. We would’ve been fine if we had submitted at the exact same time of day just in New York rather then a West Coast city. Seems rather arbitrary when only a day was given as the deadline and not an exact time. Right? Either way I’m not going to know until next Wednesday because Germans get April 30th and May 1st off apparently. 😖
