One thing I’ve noticed rewatching S1…

Shades seems less mature than he does in Season 2. It’s not just that he
doesn’t dress as nice. He also seems to treat life as one big joke,
even giggling at odd times during serious situations. But the
times that he acts the most serious in Season 1 are when he’s with
Mariah and I think that’s rather noticeable. Makes me wonder if a lot of
his changed behavior in the second season was to try to impress her.

S1 Is drudgery bc the titular character is made of corn and outdaded respectability politics one-liners. But I watch for the otp, #ShadyMariah and for Diamondback and Cottonmouth.

But drudgery binging demands breaks.

Black Lightning is way better when it comes to the titular character. You can tell he actually cares.

And I feel like I could go on a whole rant on what’s wrong with Luke Cage (show and character). I love the show, and it’s great, but it’s got some problems.

Yeah I think the music esp in s1 covered a lot of them up in addition to some Stella performances from supporting staff (villains), but the main cast of characters were written badly semi regularly.
