The thing that makes me shatter into a thousand pieces whenever I think of Bernard and his storyline this season is that every time he tries to even get a tiny amount of agency, he has to hurt himself to do it. Not only that but he clearly doesn’t see his own pain as real or worth anything because it’s “just programming.”

I’m not feeling sorry for William, but I find his character fascinating…

untilwesparagain:

he is like reverse Maeve/Dolores.

While they can see the reality of memories, lives and interactions that have been erased, he can’t.

He killed Maeve’s daughter, he hurt the woman he ‘loved’ (Dolores) in this futile search of ‘one true thing’ while losing his grip on actual reality; he killed his own daughter (he wasn’t even willing to believe that it was his daughter at that point) and he was responsible for the fate of his wife in a way. He lost the one true thing in his life (his family) to his white-privilege, his megalomania and his colonialist wet-dream.

I don’t empathize with him, but it’s interesting to watch and both actors are phenomenal.

P.S.: I will forever be bitter that Emily Delos was done so dirty though. This girl deserved better. She had so much potential and I would have loved to see more interactions with the hosts. I think that she has done questionable things but was critical enough to have quite interesting interactions with Dolores and Maeve.

‘Cause you don’t want to change, or cannot change. Because you’re only human after all. But then I realized someone was paying attention, someone who could change. So I began to compose a new story for them. It begins with the birth of a new people and the choices they will have to make. And the people they will decide to become.
