It hasn’t been subtle, but I really do like the way WestWorld shows us that a human consciousness in a host’s body is the epitome of evil and madness. I mean, we’ve seen two examples of a human consciousness loaded into a host, and each time they were filmed using fractured reflections (Delos in the broken mirror; Ford reflected in multiple panes of glass) and in dark rooms surrounded by fire (Delos literally; Ford metaphorically). 

While I have my quibbles with this show (inept security, for example), it really is gorgeous to watch.

Who is your favorite character in Westworld? Follow up question if you could design a land what would it be?

Maeve Millay hands down.

I would create some sort of high fantasy world where the hosts were elves and orcs and dwarves and there were quests where you fought a dragon or, even better, could ride a dragon. There’d be castles and endless forests and magic and it would be all my nerd dreams come true. 

If we’re going with actual historical periods? Renaissance Florence. You could assassinate a Medici or have Botticelli paint you or something. 

I’d design a science fiction world and populate it with aliens that actually look alien instead of rubber forehead people.

Also a good choice! They could make the hosts look like literally anything. Why go with boring humans? Spaceworld would be awesome!

Random Westworld thought

While watching yesterday it occurred to me that both Teddy and Hector occupy roles that would be traditionally given to female love interests. They’re comitted to the cause of their partner and spend much of the time either getting hurt or getting smooched. This made me think about how perhaps men find the show uncomfortable because of the passivity of these characters (along with that of Felix and Sizemore who get ordered around by Maeve all the time). But then it also occurred to me that its not like these are all the male characters on the show. Theres also Bernard, Stubbs, Ford and the MIB among others. If anything, Westworld has more diversity among male character archetypes than a lot of shows where men just grimace and punch things.
