I really want Shades to come back for S3 of Luke Cage. I’m hoping they’re setting him up for some kind of redemption arc as I would love that (maybe a parallel as that Luke gets darker Shades becomes better).

Maybe he gets out of prison on a technicality + decides to devote his life to helping the community + he has to try so hard because nobody will give him a chance – Misty is side-eyeing him so hard + even Luke barely tolerates him when he helps him out a few times. But Sugar tells him to stick at it.

And it’s really hard for Shades because he feels so much guilt for the things he did, for how he killed comanche + encouraged Mariah + he misses them both so much. (and I damn well want flashbacks esp of him + Comanche)

And Tilda is becoming the new villain which I don’t want but bear with me, because she does some kind of magical shit + brings Comanche back from the dead but is controlling him. And she offers to give control over to Shades if he sells out Luke.

I think that’s one thing that could happen but I could also see him going off on a downward spiral because everyone he’s ever cared about is dead.

Either way I hope they bring him back. I hate to say it but the Marvel netflix shows tend to be underwhelming for me when the good villains get benched. This happened with me already with Daredevil and JJ.

Terry Crews came out and admitted he had been sexually assulted by someone in the film industry, and is now being blacklisted. I have been a fan of his since Idiocracy, and will continue to support all of his work.

So when you wonder why people don’t come forward with their assults, this is why.

Where are all the bitch men who ask about male sexual assault when the focus is on women but are dead silent when men are actually at the focus.

It’s almost as if Men’s Rights Activists don’t really care about men’s rights. Hmmm….

🤔

Yep….

9 times out of 10 when someone makes a ‘yall pray for every person’s downfall and want everything to be problematic’ type post it’s coming from someone who has literally no right to say such things. Speaking as a black woman, it’s so frustrating to hear crap like that cause believe me, I’d love to sit back and enjoy media/pop culture freely but nah, anti-blackness and misogynoir always has to randomly jump out lol. The exhaustion and pain that comes from every aspect of society continually shitting on you will never compare to your mild annoyance cause you have to scroll past some discourse posts. I have the right to protect myself. I have the right to speak on things that make me uncomfortable. I have every right to pass on the shit yall love gassing up at the expense of my identity. And yall will deal!

Things I Wish I Knew Earlier In Fandom

But maybe these will help somebody now.

  • Most of your fandom experience is shaped by who you follow. Find a good group of people and stick with them.
  • Support your favs and a lot of them will become your friends, or at least be friendly back to you.
  • Just unfollow people who bring unwanted content or negativity onto your dash.
  • Block people who cause you stress. It’s not worth your time to focus on parts of fandom that don’t make you happy.
  • Blacklisting words/tags is a tool you are allowed to use as much as you need to.
  • Don’t feel like you have to pretend to like things that make you uncomfortable in order to fit in. Set healthy boundaries for yourself.
  • Never tag your hate. Never send hate anons to someone.
  • Content creators love getting comments, seeing people gush in the tags on reblogs, and getting fans in their inbox. It’s the best way to motivate them to keep making awesome stuff.
  • If there’s certain content you want to see but it doesn’t exist yet, then make it. Draw the thing, write that fic. If you can’t, then comission an artist or writer, or send someone a prompt if they’re open to it. If you can’t do that either, then write meta or headcanons about it. Put it into the world.
  • Create what you love. Do it for yourself first and foremost, and if even one other person likes it too, then that’s a bonus.
